New Community Health and Wellness Facility Coming to Unity Park in Fall 2024

Get Ready for a Cool Health Hub at Unity Park

Brace yourself for the Prisma Health’s Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital Community Health and Wellness Space popping up at Unity Park in the fall of 2024.

The new health hub will be providing inclusive wellness and sports opportunities to individuals facing physical or intellectual disabilities, as well as those with chronic health conditions.

The new facility, strategically located off the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail on Welborn Street, will cater to the specific needs of the community. It will offer a range of adaptive wellness and sports programs, making physical activities more accessible to everyone. Whether you require specialized equipment or adapted activities, the space is designed to accommodate your unique requirements.

Prisma Health’s Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital Community Health and Wellness Space aims to make wellness and sports activities affordable and attainable for all. They will be providing adaptive yoga classes and bicycle rentals at reduced or no cost to participants.

Diverse Offerings

The facility will offer a diverse array of services, ensuring there is something for everyone including Educational space, Physical therapy services, Post-rehabilitation areas, Bike storage, and Wellness programs.

Elizabeth DuBose, associate administrator at RCP, emphasized the facility’s commitment to providing access and support. She stated, “Our goal is to provide more access, whether through equipment, expertise, or the activities themselves. If you have trouble staying active and healthy because you need adaptations, come see us — we can help you figure it out.”

To ensure individuals can fully participate, an RCP team member will be available on-site to train and assist people in adapting sports equipment to their specific needs. This personalized support aims to make the experience enjoyable and fulfilling for all participants.

The facility will also serve as an access point for RCP’s Upstate Community Abilities Network, a program that organizes adaptive sports clinics. This integration will further enhance the accessibility and reach of adaptive sports and wellness opportunities.
