It’s no secret that Greenville is a great place to live and do business, and the statistics back it up. Despite all of the obstacles Greenville has encountered in the last year, Greenville County’s economic development is stronger than ever.
22 enterprises, including manufacturing and office, new businesses and established industries, large and small, public and private, have opted to relocate to or grow in Greenville County during 2022, according to Mark Farris, CEO of the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC). The strongest year since 2016! These businesses are putting in $468 million in new capital investment and 2,326 new jobs!
The GADC, now in its 22nd year, is dedicated to promoting and improving Greenville County’s quality of life by facilitating job growth and investment. The economic development this year is “a continuation of a remarkable run for Greenville County economic development,” according to Farris. And who can blame them for wanting to be a part of our thriving community?
Greenville County is attracting more than just new businesses. Half of the announcements come from existing industries, which is a strong endorsement of our city’s business-friendly environment. The GADC’s ongoing development of industrial parks and office/industrial space has also been instrumental in attracting new businesses.
So, what industries are driving this expansion? The announcements are varied, with 13 of the 22 falling into GADC’s core target industries and 15 falling into manufacturing verticals. The automotive, life sciences and office/headquarters industries have all responded positively, contributing to a diverse and robust economy.
Overall, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the Greenville community. We’re well on our way to a bright future, with $468 million in new capital investment and 2,326 new jobs.
