Upstate’s Biggest Food Event, “Iron Caterer Throwdown,” Returns

The annual Iron Caterer Throwdown, Greenville’s biggest cooking competition, is back for its sixth year and is even better than ever.

Four Upstate catering companies will compete for awards in several categories, including Best Presentation, Most Creative, Best Taste, and Most Entertaining, and the contestant with the highest overall score will be proclaimed Iron Caterer 2022.

Three dishes based on three secret ingredients will be prepared by the competing catering companies. The contestants will have 20 minutes to prepare each dish, which will be evaluated on the basis of creativity, presentation, entertainment value, and taste by four guest judges as well as the event’s attendees.

The participants this year are Chef Kyle Pafford of Clemson Catering, Chef Chris Rosensteel of The Uptown Company, Chef Deshawn Grant of Savory Salvations, and Chef Michael Sibert of White Wine and Butter.

The competition, which will be hosted by Gaspar Gomez of Uptown Entertainment, Jered Young of Furman University, and The Paddock restaurant, will take place on August 11 from 6 to 10 p.m. at The L in downtown Greenville, located at 211 E. Broad St.
