TikTok star, Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum” alum, autism advocate and Upstate resident Kaelynn Partlow, is releasing her debut book about autism “Life on the Bridge.”
Partlow used her experience as a person on the autism spectrum and an autism therapist with Project Hope to craft her book and give readers tools and strategies they may use without resources or money.
“I’m giving people that additional perspective from my place on the bridge between the two worlds,” said Partlow. “It’s unique in that autism professionals and autistic people have written books, but someone who does both is very unusual. The dual perspective adds to my lived experience on top of my clinical experience working with a broad range of people across the spectrum.”
After becoming known for her time on “Love on the Spectrum,” Partlow’s social media presence on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube took off. She found that she had actionable content for individuals on the autistic spectrum on her various profiles and decided to have all her information in one place, which led her to write her book.
To create “Life on the Bridge,” Partlow also spent two years drawing motivation from her life and work.
“I was writing about the things that were happening that I felt needed to be talked about because it (was) affecting my daily life as I’m going through it,” Partlow said. “An example of that would be I was working with a young man who was trying to develop some conversation skills and was motivated to have conversations with his peers, but he really did not know where to start. I wrote out a protocol on how I addressed that and as I was in the process of doing that, I thought it might be cool to share that with other people.”
Partlow’s book will celebrate her book launch with an Instagram live on her Instagram page Sept. 14 at 7:45 p.m. “Life on the Bridge” will be available on Amazon.com.
