United Way of Greenville County seeks school supply donations

United Way of Greenville County is asking the community to help provide new backpacks and school supplies for thousands of local students.

More information and a link to donate can be found at unitedwaygc.org/schooltools.

The donated items will be distributed to students of all grade levels at the organization’s 2024-25 School Tools Day July 27 at 9 a.m. at Carolina High School in Greenville.

The event will include free food from local food trucks, music and activities to celebrate the return to school. Attendees may also learn about community resources available for students and families in Greenville County.

United Way of Greenville County also plans to distribute supplies July 27 at two satellite locations:

“For families already struggling to make end meet, the excitement of a new school year should not be dampened by the growing expense of back-to-school shopping,” said Meghan Barp, president and CEO of United Way of Greenville County. “We’re counting on the generosity of our community to help alleviate this burden and make sure all of our students start the year ready to learn.”

In 2023, more than 3,000 School Tools Day backpacks were packed and distributed by volunteers.
