Turkey Day 5k Goes Virtual This Year

The TreeUpstate’s annual Turkey Day Run will go virtual this year due to COVID-19.

The TreeUpstate hopes that the Upstate community will continue to run, trot, or walk with them this Thanksgiving wherever they are to continuously support their cause to plant, promote, and protect trees.

All proceeds from the Turkey Day 5k will go directly to TreesUpstate’s tree-planting programs.

Participants can do their virtual run from Thanksgiving day until Sunday, November 29 at 11:59 p.m. They can run the 5k and track their progress on the Race Joy app. After registering they’ll receive a link to download the app and when they head out to do their race, all they need to do is launch the app and hit the start button.

Registration is only $25 and participants will get a race shirt, local coupons, and giveaways.

Everyone who completes the race using the app will be entered in the giveaway drawings. Prizes include a Dagger kayak, three pairs of Brooks running shoes from Fleet Feet Greenville, and 75 pairs of Goodr Sunglasses.

The coupons can be used at Fleet Feet Sports Greenville, Sidewall Pizza, 13 Stripes, and Bridge City Coffee.

Participants can also join the costume contest by posting a picture of their outfit on Thanksgiving day with their assigned bib #.

Anyone interested to participate may visit their page to know more about the race.
