Here’s a recap of the Aug. 15 Travelers Rest City Council meeting.
Initial approval: Rezoning of 306 S. Main Street
City Council voted unanimously to add a missing agenda item from the Aug. 5 planning committee meeting that was not voted on. The matter was first discussed at the July 25 Planning Commission meeting.
Rezoning has been requested for approximately 0.9 acres of property located at 306 S. Main St. at the corner of Roe Road and Main Street.
The applicant wants to rezone from an R-10 single-family residential district to a C-2 commercial district for the purpose of opening a facility for an interior decorator. This is a correction from the July 25 agenda, where it was noted as a gift shop. The space would not function as a warehouse, workshop, or retail furniture facility although there may be samples or models present.
The property was recommended for approval by the Planning Commission and staff at the Aug. 5 meeting and was unanimously recommended for approval at this meeting. It goes on to next month’s City Council meeting on Sept. 19, when the public can comment.
