Here’s a recap of the July 18 meeting of Travelers Rest City Council.
Approved: Accommodations Tax Committee funding recommendations
Council approved a measure that awards $11,000 in accommodations tax funds, money that is collected from taxes on hotel stays in the city, to projects or events recommended by the city’s Accommodations Tax Committee.
The committee’s recommendations include:
- Browse & Stroll Market – $6,000
- Trail Mix Concert – $2,500
- Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay – $3,000
Final approval: Change to The Villas of North Valley development
Council approved a change to The Villas of North Valley, an 87-home, age-restricted community on 49.63 acres at 129 and 132 E. Bowers Road.
Originally, they had eight lots that were closer to Coleman Road but they relocated the sites into the developable area, which increases the open space, said Travelers Rest Planning Director Jay Martin,
