The Blood Connection Needs More Donor

The Blood Connection donor turnout is at an all-time low and, according to the most recent TBC data, local hospitals have consumed twice as much blood as the community has contributed.

The organization is concerned that if this situation continues, the community’s hospitals may face a blood shortage. As a response to this pressing need, TBC has extended its center hours by operating earlier and later to accommodate more blood donors.

TBC urges those who have received any of the approved COVID-19 vaccines to donate blood immediately.

The organization also implemented a new COVID-19 antibody screening, which will test each donor’s blood to see if it carries antibodies from the COVID-19 vaccine and/or antibodies from COVID-19 virus exposure.

To address the demands of its local hospital partners, TBC says they require more than 800 blood donations every day.
