Officials from B.A.S.S., as well as Visit Anderson and VisitGreenvilleSC, announced that the world’s most prestigious professional bass tournament is returning to the Upstate in 2022.
From March 4 to 6, 2022, the 2022 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk will be held at Lake Hartwell.
Takeoffs are from Anderson’s Green Pond Landing & Event Center, monthly weigh-ins will be held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, and the annual Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo will be held at the Greenville Convention Center.
“Everything about Lake Hartwell and the city of Greenville makes them the perfect setting for the Super Bowl of Professional Bass Fishing,” B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin said. “The Bassmaster Classic is not only a chance for the best anglers in the world to showcase their abilities, it’s an annual celebration of the sport itself.
“Lake Hartwell provides the perfect site for amazing competition, and the city of Greenville provides the hotels, restaurants, and other facilities you need for an event the size of the Classic,” Akin added.
The 2022 Classic will feature 55 qualifiers, including the reigning Bassmaster Classic champion and winner of the final Elite Series event of the 2021 season, who will earn their berths via the Elite Series, Opens, TNT Fireworks B.A.S.S. Nation circuit, Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops, and the Bassmaster Team Championship. They’ll compete for a share of a $1 million prize pool in the no-entry-fee game, with the champion taking home $300,000.
