Peter Larocque believes TD Synnex Share the Magic empowers the community to turn compassion into action.
The president of TD Synnex North America founded the annual fundraising initiative in 2011 to raise money for charities that support children and youth in need. Since its inception, TD Synnex Share the Magic has raised more than $21 million for charities in South Carolina.
“Share the Magic is a promise to bring hope, joy, strength and courage to families facing unimaginable challenges,” Larocque said.
TD Synnex Share the Magic will host its 14th annual charity gala on Oct. 12. The celebration serves as the initiative’s main fundraising event for 2024.
Around 1,500 people are expected to attend the gala which, for the first year, will be held at Flour Field in downtown Greenville. Guests will enjoy food and cocktails, a live auction, a program presentation and live music.
The event’s organizers hope to surpass last year’s fundraising total of $2.6 million. Larocque said they always want to do a dollar better than the year before. The funding will support local organizations serving children including:
- A Child’s Haven
- Clement’s Kindness
- Make-A-Wish South Carolina
- Pendleton Place.
“Inspired by the power of kindness and the resilience of children battling serious illnesses, this initiative seeks to brighten their lives by offering moments of magic when they need it most,” Larocque said.
The annual fundraising initiative has also expanded geographically. Over the years, seven additional chapters of TD Synexx Share the Magic have been established across North America. These chapters are located in Colorado, Illinois, California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Canada.
TD Synnex Share the Magic has raised more than $26 million across all chapters.
At the end of the year, Larocque plans to step down as president of TD Synnex North America – a position he has held since 2013. However, he intends to still be involved with Share the Magic.
“The heart’s there to continue to perform for our charities,” Larocque said. “We want to do better and we want to do that in all the different locations.”

History
TD Synnex Share the Magic was founded in 2011 by Peter Larocque, president of TD Synnex North America.
At the time, Larocque served on the board of Make-A-Wish South Carolina and believed the charity would be better served if TD Synnex – previously the Synnex Corporation – raised money to support the nonprofit’s cause.
“We wanted to make it easy for them to get the money and put it to use and it served us well,” Larocque said.
Larocque worked with the Hughes Agency and Bob Stegner, senior vice president of marketing for TD Synnex North America, to get the fundraising initiative off the ground and host the first charity gala.
“When we began the initiative in 2011, the Hughes Agency, Bob Stegner and I wanted to come up with a name that reflected the idea that everyone has the capacity to create change and transform lives through acts of giving,” Larocque said.
