Swamp Rabbit Cafe adds coffee bar, Indaco cooks up special meal: Weekly Dish

Local favorite Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery has opened its newest venture, Swamp Rabbit Coffee Bar.

Located next to the grocery at 205 Cedar Lane Road in Greenville, it will serve coffee and espresso drinks, as well as beer and wine by the glass. It will also offer pastries, scones and Swamp Rabbit’s signature stecca bread.

The addition comes months after the opening of Swamp Mart, the grab-and-go expansion of its farm-focused business on Greenville’s Main Street.

Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m to 8 p.m. daily.

When two South Carolina-based businesses come together, magic happens.

Charleston-based Indaco will collaborate with local seafood provider Broadwater Shrimp Supply Co. & Seafood Market for a prix fixe five-course meal with beer pairings. Guests can expect bright, summer-forward preparations complementing the Italian inspired, but Southern crafted, cuisine.

Indaco teased a housemade pasta, yellowfin tuna dish and peach crumble. Few things are more delicious than summer peaches.

The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. July 10 at Indaco in downtown Greenville, at 40 W. Broad St. Tickets are available at opentable.com/r/indaco-greenville.

Calling all bakers: Kolache Factory may be looking for you.

The Texas-based chain with a presence in Powdersville is holding its “Create a New Kolache Contest” through July. The challenge is to create an original kolache and submit it to the business, including a name for the creation and ingredients.

Votes will be held Aug. 8-18, and gold-, silver- and bronze-medal winners will be announced Aug. 28. Think of it as a pastry Olympics.

For those who don’t know: a kolache is a traditional Czech pastry made with yeast dough and filling. It can be savory or sweet. Hopeful kolache Olympians can enter at kolachefactory.com/contest. Kolache Factory in Powdersville is located on S.C. Highway 153, near the intersection with 3 Bridges Road.

Spotted: It looks like Simpsonville may be getting a little teriyaki on Main Street by way of Teriyaki Panda in the old Jack in the Box building. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but stay tuned. Simpsonville may also be getting a Scooter’s Coffee on Fairview Road. No word yet on opening, but keep following for that as well.
