Downtown Programming, a popular street music series, has returned to the Spartanburg Downtown Cultural District.
The program, which began in August 2017, intends to increase pedestrian traffic, retail sales for local businesses, use of downtown parking garages, public awareness of the Spartanburg Downtown Cultural District, and the diversity of both performers and audiences.
The following is the event schedule:
- On Wednesday, August 11, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, there will be live music at Liberty & Main as well as Magnolia & Main.
- On Thursday, August 12, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, there will be live music at Liberty & Main.
- On Friday, August 13, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, there will be live music at Liberty & Main as well as Magnolia & Main.
- And on Saturday, August 14, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, there will be more live music at Liberty & Main and Magnolia & Main.
When engaging with performers, the audience is encouraged to maintain social distance and wear face coverings. When possible, the audience is urged to directly support performers via mobile payments and tips, according to the organizers.

The district is about four square blocks from Barnet Park to Spartanburg Community College’s downtown campus on Kennedy Street. It is bordered by the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium and the Grain District.
