Spartanburg Is Now Home To Oshkosh Defense Creating Over 1000 New Jobs In The County

Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, announced plans to open a facility in Spartanburg County on Tuesday, bringing over 1,000 new employment to the county.

Oshkosh Defense is a tactical vehicle manufacturer specializing in heavy, medium, light, and highly protected vehicles and technology.

“We’ll have technical jobs like engineering and leadership we’ll also do assembly and paint.” Don Bent, Chief Operating Officer of Oshkosh Defense, said

The new Oshkosh Defense facility will be located in Spartanburg County’s Flatwood Industrial Park.

According to the latest announcement, Oshkosh Corporation plans to invest $155 million in Spartanburg County. The additional operations will support the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) program.

According to the firm, it will produce zero-emission battery-electric cars as well as fuel-efficient low-emission internal combustion engine vehicles to replace USPS’s current fleet of delivery trucks.

It speaks volumes of our business environment when a company of this caliber invests $155 million and creates more than 1,000 jobs in our state. Congratulations to this great company, and we look forward to all the things they will do,” Governor Henry McMaster said in a news release.
