Tyger Run Dog Park is the newest dog park to open in the Upstate.
The roughly 1.5-acre dog park, located at 179 Dillard Highway in Duncan, is set to open on Thursday.
“Folks have been asking us for years to construct a canine park, so we’re thrilled to say we have lastly been in a position to do it, thanks largely to the generosity of the Balmer Basis,” Kristen Guilfoos, Spartanburg County Parks’ marketing manager, mentioned. “It is the primary canine park constructed and maintained by Spartanburg County and it is definitely been a very long time coming.”
The park is completely fenced in, giving dog owners peace of mind that their pets are safe while they run around freely.
It will most likely have a small dog area and a separate large dog area. There will be several benches, a picnic table, and several play structures for the dogs to run and bounce around on all sides. A water station with a bottle filler, a people’s water fountain, and a dog’s water bowl will also be available.
According to Spartanburg County Parks, the dog park was paid for with taxpayer money and a $100,000 grant from the Balmer Foundation.
“The Balmer Foundation was very generous and we are so thankful that they contributed a sizeable chunk of money towards this project,” Guilfoos said.
