City officials are working to move forward with developing a skatepark and pump track in Greenville.
The wheel park is planned to be built on an approximately 10-acre site next to the Greenville Downtown Airport at 425 Airport Road. According to the city, staff have been working to develop a lease agreement with the Greenville Airport Commission for the property over the past year.
Greenville City Council will officially vote on the ground lease agreement for the property on Sept. 9. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Greenville City Hall.
The city plans to offset the annual $40,000 rental fee for the leased property with the airport’s annual stormwater fee, according to the resolution. The city will also transfer funding from the hospitality fund which will be expensed through the parks, recreation and tourism department’s operating account.
