Here is a recap of the Simpsonville City Council meeting on Sept. 24:
Other item: Center for Community Services, Mill Village Ministries partnership
During the meeting’s resident-comments period, Dan Weidenbenner of Mill Village Ministries and Stephen Carlson of Center for Community Services announced the two organizations have partnered together to bring FoodShare Greenville to Simpsonville.
The program allows low-income Greenville County residents to purchase produce boxes worth $35 to $40 each for $20 in cash or to pay $5 in SNAP benefits.
Mill Village Ministries offers FoodShare pickup locations on select days across the county, including two Simpsonville locations at Center for Community Services, 1102 Howard Drive, and Hillcrest Hospital at 729 S.E. Main St. For more information, visit millvillagefarms.org/foodshare.
Advanced: Plans to change city insurance providers
Council advanced a recommendation from its selection committee to change city insurance providers from USI to McGriff. This item will go before the City Council for approval Oct. 8.
