Here’s a recap of the July 9 meeting of Simpsonville City Council.
Approved: Plans for pump track in Alder Park
Council approved a measure to purchase a pump track for $65,000 from Flying Rabbit in Greenville.
The track will be placed in Alder Park and divided into two separate tracks, one for advanced cyclists, skateboarders or skaters and the other for beginners.
The project will be covered by the city’s hospitality and accommodations tax funds.
Initial approval: Amended stormwater standards
Council gave initial approval to a measure that would amend its stormwater development standards in Greenville County’s Stormwater Management Design Manual.
The amended standards would require applicants seeking the city’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit to show that their planned stormwater systems accommodate a 100-year storm. The present guidelines require that stormwater systems accommodate a 25-year storm.
This item will go before the City Council for initial approval Aug. 13.
Initial approval: Agreement with fiber internet providers
Council gave initial approval an ordinance that would create a franchise agreement with fiber internet providers seeking to do business in the area.
If passed, the agreement would set standards of what the fiber internet providers are required to do regarding putting any impacted property back into its previous state. It would also govern how they dig in the right of ways, said City Administrator Dianna Gracely.
