On Sunday, August 22, the Saluda River Rambler in Piedmont will host its second Full Moon Paddle of the season.
The full moon paddle experience costs $25 per person, and there are 14 boats to rent. Those renting kayaks will be equipped with life jackets, paddles, and glow sticks. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own kayaks, and there is no limit to the number of people that can participate.
There will be a limited number of headlamps available for purchase as well and participants should be at least 16 years of age and have some kayaking experience.
Those renting kayaks will be picked at 9:15 p.m. at Saluda River Grill in Piedmont by guides from Saluda River Rambler, who will then take them to Timmerman Jr. Kayak Launch in Pelzer.
Those having their own kayaks should come at 9:40 p.m. at the Timmerman Jr. launch, 15 Capers Street in Pelzer. By 10 p.m., the group will be on the water, and out by 11:30 p.m.
Kayakers will launch in a group and paddle for 45 minutes upstream before returning to the Timmerman Jr. launch. Paddlers will be advised to “buddy up,” and guides will check behind them to make sure no one is left alone on the river.
