Scot Baddley, retiring CEO and president of the YMCA of Greenville, was awarded the Order of the Palmetto on Sept. 17.
He was given South Carolina’s highest civilian honor for his 20 years of leadership over one of Greenville County’s largest health and human services organizations. State Rep. Bruce Banister presented the award to Baddley on behalf of the Office of Governor Henry McMaster.
“I feel so incredibly honored to receive that award,” Baddley said. “The work that we do at the Y, the people that support us the way that they do and enable us to serve families are also the ones that have supported me in so many incredible ways and that award kind of demonstrates their level of love.”
Baddley has served as the seventh president and CEO of the largest Y in the state since 2004. Today, the YMCA of Greenville consists of 10 sites and serves more than 70,000 members and program participants annually.
Under Baddley’s leadership, the YMCA of Greenville has increased its membership, built partnerships, enhanced and added new facilities, grown it’s revenue, created new programs and increased its philanthropic support. Baddley is also credited for creating a financial development model resulting in a 77% growth in overall funding and an over 300% increase in annual campaign proceeds.
