The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has opened a new COVID-19 testing site in the Upstate.
The new testing site is a drive-thru near Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The new drive-thru testing site, according to DHEC, is in the former Kmart parking lot, located at 1 Kmart Plaza, Greenville, S.C. 29605.
According to DHEC, the testing site will be open from 11 a.m. beginning Friday, Jan. 28, till 6 p.m. After the first day, the site’s normal hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 7 days a week. Impact Health conducts the testing with nasal swab-PCR tests and has the capacity to test 600–700 people each day.
“This testing site will be a game-changer for residents in the Upstate,” said Patrick Brown, DHEC’s Upstate Outbreak Response Director in a news release. “We know COVID-19 testing demand is at an all-time high, and we are very excited to offer this free testing opportunity for community members. Knowing your COVID-19 status, especially if you’ve been exposed or are experiencing symptoms, is critical to the safety of individuals and their loved ones. We strongly encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Many more testing locations and services are available across the Upstate and the rest of South Carolina, according to DHEC. If residents are having symptoms, they should go to the DHEC’s testing locator to find a site near them. Residents may also obtain free tests via covidtests.gov.
DHEC encourages South Carolinians to continue getting tested when necessary, quarantining and isolating when advised, and obtaining their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters when eligible.
Use the vaccine locator or call our CARE Line at 1-855-472-3432 to find a vaccination site near you.
