National Donut Day on Friday, June 5th

Great news for our donut lovers out there! As a yearly tradition, the first Friday of June (June 5th, 2020) we celebrate the 82nd National Donut Day that originally started in 1938 by the Salvation Army in Chicago as a way to honor their members who assisted in World War I by serving donuts to the troops.

Here are some shops in Greenville where you can grab some donut deals in celebration of National Donut Day.

Hendough – First 100 customers on Friday, June 5th will get a free glazed donut! You can also enjoy their featured flavor of the week – Pina colada: pineapple cheesecake filling, coconut and a maraschino cherry on top.

Krispy Kreme – While Friday is National Donut Day, Krispy Kreme is also celebrating its first “National Doughnut Week” offering fans any doughnut of choice for FREE, no purchase necessary, from June 1 through June 5

“National Doughnut Day is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate, but with days starting to blur together, we want to make sure it’s easier than ever for fans to participate,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer, in a news release.

Greenville and Spartanburg shops are listed as participating.

Dunkin’ Donuts – Offering guests a free classic donut of their choice with the purchase of any beverage at participating restaurants nationwide, while supplies last.

The Salvation Army of Greenville invites the community to get involved with Donut Day. The community is encouraged to share photos of their Donut Day activities and tag them @salarmygvl.  The Salvation Army also encourages the community to dough-nate by texting “DonutDay2020” to 41444. Donations will support their food assistance programs, like grocery assistance and food pantry.
