Lake Bowen Park has been a popular attraction for the local community in the last decade. Thousands of people enjoy the many great recreational activities, including boating, each year, and this number is growing.
On Thursday, June 24, 2021, Spartanburg Water and the Commission of Public Works of the City of Spartanburg hosted a ribbon-cutting event to showcase the improvements made to Lake Bowen Park.
The primary focus of the improvement is on the safety and convenience of all visitors.
A new boat ramp for motorized boats and watercraft has been added to the park, complementing an existing boat ramp for non-motorized boats.
Additional parking for vehicles without boat trailers has been added to the park, as well as specific space for vehicles with boat trailers.
The project is expected to take twelve months to complete, with the first phase focused on building and pavement, and the second on landscaping and other shoreline improvements. The first phase of the project was completed on July 1, 2021, and the second phase is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2021.
