Three malls across the Upstate, SC have re-opened on Friday after closing their doors for more than a month. Haywood Mall, Westgate Mall, and Gaffney Outlets have reopened to shoppers at 11 am Friday, but with some modifications to hours and security precautions.
Simon Malls, owner of the Gaffney Outlets and Haywood Mall, said it will be doing several new things to keep customers safe.
Security teams were in place at the entrance behind walkthrough temperature scanners. People who have body temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit are denied entry.
For health and safety, Haywood Mall has put in place social distancing guidelines and stickers directing the flow of traffic. The mall has also enhanced its sanitation and disinfection on high-traffic locations such as dining areas, restrooms, escalators, stairs, directories, trash bins, and doorknobs. Hand sanitizing stations are also found throughout the mall. Playgrounds and seating in the food courts are closed, and in restrooms, every other stall and sink is taped off.
The Westgate Mall in Spartanburg is also implementing similar health and safety measures, however, its food court is closed until further notice.
Mall hours at the Haywood Mall, Gaffney Outlets, and the Westgate Mall are 11 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 pm on Sunday.
