Greenville’s Unity Park Is Set To Officially Open In May

Unity Park, Greenville’s newest and most grandiose park, now has an official opening date.

According to the city of Greenville, Unity Park, including the playgrounds and splash pad, will have its grand opening on May 19, after nearly two years of work.

The city of Greenville said donations from the public and corporate partners help fund the park. It has four playgrounds, a splash pad, and a visitor center.

The 60-acre park features four playgrounds and a water feature, as well as three pedestrian bridges that cross the Reedy River, a nine-acre green space, and a Swamp Rabbit Trail extension.

The restoration of a half-mile stretch of the Reedy River and nearby wetlands was also part of the Park’s construction.

The park is located west of downtown Greenville on South Hudson Street and Mayberry Street.

The city will conduct several other events to celebrate the park’s completion, including a community celebration on Saturday, May 28 at the park. The West Greenville and Southernside Reunions, the Juneteenth Celebration, and the Lila Mae Brock Plaza dedication are among the events that have yet to be scheduled.
