Greenville Triumph, Liberty games to be broadcast locally

Beginning in October, Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty soccer games will be available over-the-air on channel 21.2 in the Upstate.

The addition is part of the launch of Palmetto Sports and Entertainment by Gray Media and Fox Carolina (WHNS).

“We look forward to showcasing top-notch soccer played right here in Greenville, S.C., to our viewers across the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson-Asheville market,” Fox Carolina Vice President and General Manager Bryce Caldwell said in a news release.

The Triumph compete in USL League One, while the Liberty play in the pre-professional USL W League. Greenville Triumph SC was founded in 2018 and the men’s team started league play in 2019. Its games have previously only been available via online streaming on ESPN Plus.

According to the Fox Carolina release, Palmetto Sports and Entertainment “will focus on live, local sports with a wide variety of South Carolina sports and entertainment.” It will also be available on Gray Media affiliates in Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.

“We are proud to be a part of the launch of the new home for sports in South Carolina,” said Greenville Triumph SC President Chris Lewis. He added that the club looked forward to bringing “professional soccer into the homes of tens of thousands across the Upstate.”
