Greenville Technical College announced Aug. 27 it has donated a bench created by its welding students to the city of Greenville.
The bench is displayed near the Liberty Bridge in Falls Park and was inspired by the landmark. It was initially made for the city’s 2023 Poinsettia Christmas Parade.
“Turning the parade float into a real-world learning project for Welding students made the float meaningful and demonstrated the college’s role in delivering relevant education,” said Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “With the bench on display in downtown Greenville, our talented welding students and graduates have impacted not only the businesses where they work but also the city where they have studied.”
Greenville Tech plans for its programs to work to turn designing future parade floats into learning experiences.
