Greenville Jewish Film Festival opens ticket sales for SummerFest 2024

Tickets for the Greenville Jewish Film Festival fifth annual SummerFest go on sale July 16. SummerFest will take place on Aug. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre.

This year’s featured film is the 2023 documentary, “Call Me Dancer.” The film follows the story of a Mumbai street dancer named Manish Chauhan as he trains under an Israeli ballet master, Yehuda Maor. Manish stumbles upon Yehuda at an inner-city dance school, and their partnership and friendship transforms their lives.

The film has won numerous awards including the Magnolia Award for Best Documentary at the Shanghai TV Festival.

In addition to a screening of the documentary, the event will also include a special Master Dance Workshop with Manish. The dance workshop will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to watching the film. The night will conclude with a reception catered by Saffron Indian Cuisine.

Adult tickets are $50 and student tickets are $25. The purchase of a ticket includes the dance workshop, the film screening, Manish’s guest appearance and the reception.

Gunter Theatre is located at 300 S. Main Street in downtown Greenville. For more information and tickets, visit peacecenter.org.
