Greenville gala to celebrate award-winning Sum Bar documentary

Mill Village Ministries is hosting a Great Wall Gala in partnership with Rioin Oshiro, the founder of Undercurrent Film Community, and Khailing Neoh, the owner of Sum Bar.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Greenville ONE Center at 1 N. Main St., Greenville.

Oshiro filmed the documentary “Great Wall” to bring to the screen Neoh’s story of opening Greenville’s first dim sum restaurant. The film went on to win Greenville’s first James Beard Media Award.

The gala aims to celebrate the culinary success of the Upstate and the reception of the James Beard Media Award. It will feature welcome champagne, hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth, a silent auction and a screening of “Great Wall.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to benefit Mill Village Ministries and its partnership with up-and-coming Greenville restaurants.
