Proterra is the transportation partner for the iMAGINE Upstate STEAM festival, and that partnership enables Greenlink to offer a free fare day for all passengers on Saturday, April 2.
The iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival, presented by Fluor, will highlight science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) learning opportunities for children and their families. It will begin at 11 a.m. on April 2nd. until 5:00 p.m. between Court Street and River Street on Main Street.
The partnership between iMAGINE Upstate and Proterra, according to Kelly Scheib, Proterra’s vice president of human resources, is a great example of how public transportation can provide mobility solutions for the community while also raising awareness about alternative transportation options. She further stated that the partnership highlights how public transportation can help solve challenges such as traffic congestion and insufficient parking while also increasing fair access for all families.
Dallas Thomas, the event director for iMAGINE Upstate, believes that the transportation partnership is helping to increase festival attendance and diversify the audience.
“We are continuing to make strides to reach more children and families by making the festival accessible for those who may not be able to travel downtown otherwise,” said Thomas. “Through this wonderful partnership, we can provide transportation options, which we hope will allow more families to attend the festival and have fun exploring STEAM careers and educational opportunities.”
Greenlink passengers and festival goers can arrange their free rides on April 2 using the Google Transit application at www.ridegreenlink.com.
