Glimpses of Greenville: Patton, Tilman and Bruce on North Main

A long-running Greenville shoe store began as Pride & Patton in 1899. It was renamed Pride, Patton & Tilman in 1910 then became the more familiar Patton, Tilman & Bruce brand in 1918, initially at 106 S. Main St. This Coxe Collection photo shows their marquee façade at their store on 221 N. Main St. between West North and College, which opened in 1935. This space/building is now occupied by the Comedy Zone. The store later expanded to McAlister Square and closed in the 1990s.
