Furman University has nearly completed construction of its new first-year student residence, Lakeview Hall.
Construction began in spring of 2023, and now all that is left is the finishing touches. The new hall is a part of the university’s $70 million project to revamp the first-year-housing experience.
Lakeview Hall will be open in the fall for the incoming class of 2028. The hall has 200 beds, study and social spaces on each floor, a kitchen with upgraded appliances, and a first-floor laundry room.
The hall will also be the new home for the university’s Center for Inclusive Communities. The CIC’s location in the first-year housing ensures students have access to support and community.
The entire renovation project includes the construction of the Lakeview Hall, the demolition of Blackwell Hall, the renovation of the four other first-year halls, and a new basketball and pickleball court in the quad area.
The project was initially delayed due to the pandemic. The completion of the entire renovation project is now scheduled for 2025.
