Here’s a recap of the Sept. 12 meeting of Fountain Inn City Council.
Postponed: Rezoning for new subdivision, commercial development
Council postponed a vote on an annexation and rezoning request for 58.53 acres on Durbin, Jones and Happy Valley roads. The applicant, Jones Family LTD Partnership, plans to use 37.17 acres to develop single-family attached homes. The remaining 15.33 acres are planned as an open space with a walking path. This item will go before City Council Oct. 10.
Approved: Agreement to design municipal complex
Council approved a request to allow City Administrator Shawn Bell to execute an agreement with LS3P to design the city’s new municipal complex.
Approved: Municipal Association of South Carolina grant application
Council approved a request to apply for a $25,000 MASC hometown economic development grant. If approved, the city must pay $3,750 in matching funds. The grant would support the city’s planned Trade Street pedestrian upgrades.
Other item: City project updates
During his report to council, Bell gave an update on various projects, including:
- Woodside streetscape’s light poles have been installed and only landscaping work remains. All work is expected to be completed end of October.
- Woodside connector’s old path has been removed and the new path’s base is under construction. Bridge beams for this project should be delivered end of September.
Final approval: Annexation for orthodontics office
Council approved an annexation request for 1.02 acres on Milacron Drive. The applicant, Alh Orthodontics LLC, plans to develop a pediatric orthodontics office, owned and operated by Dr. Adam Hardin and Dr. Mary Alice Hughes.
