Here’s a recap of the Aug. 8 meeting of Fountain Inn City Council.
Approved: Purchase of two fire engines
Council authorized City Administrator Shawn Bell to make a purchase agreement with Spartan Fire and Emergency Apparatus to purchase two Pierce fire engines, which will be paid for in either the 2028 or 2029 budget. A cost estimate was not provided during the meeting. The fire engines would not be delivered until 2028.
Other item: New City Hall phone number
During his report to the City Council, Bell announced that Fountain Inn City Hall’s phone number will change at 1 p.m. Aug. 13. The new number will be 864-531-0644. While the primary number will change, all existing emergency lines will remain the same.
Carried over: Rezoning for new subdivision, commercial development
Council carried over an annexation and rezoning request for 69.35 acres on Durbin, Jones and Happy Valley roads. The applicant, Jones Family LTD Partnership, plans to use 10.82 acres for commercial development and 37.17 acres to develop single-family attached homes. The remaining 15.33 acres are planned as an open space with a walking path.
This item will go before the City Council for approval Sept. 12.
Final approval: Rezoning for retail and self-storage facility
Council approved a rezoning request for 3.49 acres at 1314 and 1318 N. Main St. The applicant, Alex Dmyterko of Century Development Partners LLC, plans to build a three-tenant retail/office building at the front of the site and a three-story, 90,000-square-foot climate-controlled self-storage facility at the rear of the property.
Initial approval: Annexation for orthodontics office
Council approved an annexation request for 1.02 acres on Milacron Drive. The applicant, Alh Orthodontics LLC, plans to develop a pediatric orthodontics office, owned and operated by Dr. Adam Hardin and Dr. Mary Alice Hughes.
This item will go before the City Council for final approval Sept. 12.
Appointed: New ministerial recorder
Council appointed Kelly Santora as a ministerial recorder. She also serves as a deputy court clerk with the city of Fountain Inn.
