Falls Park and the Cancer Survivors Park are now open in addition to the entire length of the Swamp Rabbit trail within the city limit. This comes after Mayor Knox announced its reopening Friday at a press conference. Falls Park and Cancer Survivors Park reopened Saturday, May 9.
The reopening of the parks and trail is contingent on all users practicing appropriate social distancing at the park. Groups should be limited to no more than three people and park-goers should keep 6 feet apart from one another. Park and trail usage will be monitored and conditions will be assessed daily.
The Liberty Bridge will remain closed, as will all benches and swings in the park. City playgrounds and volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts remain closed.
As a means of facilitating social distancing, the city closed the parking spaces on the west side of Main Street, from Washington Street to McBee Avenue, and parking spaces on the west side of the Main Street bridge to give pedestrians more space to walk.
