Duke Energy’s Green Source Advantage Program has been approved by the South Carolina Public Service Commission (PSCSC). The program will enable the company to offer its customers more renewable energy options.
Large clients can choose and negotiate all price terms directly with a renewable provider of their choice through the Green Source Advantage program, and they can keep the renewable energy certificates (RECs) generated by the renewable facility. The consumer and the renewable energy provider can also agree on the length of the contract that is best for them.
The program will run until the whole capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) has been reached. For the next nine months, 35 megawatts of this 200-megawatt capacity will be reserved for local government and university users.
The remaining 165 MW will be dedicated to big nonresidential customers, with Duke Energy Carolinas receiving 125 MW and Duke Energy Progress receiving 40 MW.
The program’s application window is now open and accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on the application and eligibility conditions, go to duke-energy.com/scgreensource.
