Downtown Greenville’s Urban Wren names new executive chef

When chef Taylor Montgomery announced his departure from Urban Wren, there remained a question of who would take his place.

Look no further for the answer. On Aug. 8, Marcus Beato was announced as the restaurant’s new executive chef. Beato previously served as chef de cuisine for The Bellwether on South Main Street and has cooked up and down the East Coast.

Urban Wren has seen changes in its leadership recently but remained true to its founding vision; to present local ingredients in a creative and esoteric way. The restaurant is also planning pop-ups with up-and-coming local chefs.

The restaurant, located at 116 N. Markley St. in downtown Greenville’s West End, is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.
