Dolly Cooper Park Opens A New Public Kayaking And Tubing Loop On The Saluda River

A new public kayaking and tubing loop on the Saluda River at Dolly Cooper Park has opened just in time for the summer season for the people of Anderson County.

Thanks to a collaboration between Anderson County and Duke Energy. A $50,000 donation from Duke Energy and continuous efforts by Anderson County to build and develop the Saluda Blueway River System enabled the building of a second ADA accessible dock to complete the loop.

You have a quarter-mile float down to the second new dock after launching from the original dock, followed by a 5-minute quarter-mile walk back to the original dock as many times as you wish.

Dolly Cooper Park has been working on this looping trail for seven years.

“This has been a product for us that we’ve been working towards for about 7 years,” said Matt Shell with Anderson County Parks Department. “Tried a couple of different funding opportunities but it was able to come to fruition just recently with a grant from Duke Energy. So they were actually the primary funding source for the secondary kayak launch, so it’s been a huge addition already.”

There is now a new way to refresh and enjoy the Saluda River. Experience the adventure of the revolving tubing and kayaking loop at Dolly Cooper Park for free.
