Condé Nast Traveler Readers Have Chosen Greenville As One Of America’s Top Small Cities Once Again

Greenville has been named one of the Best Small Cities in the United States in the 34th annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards for 2021.

The city was voted No. 5 in the United States as the Best Small City. The city climbed one spot from the previous year and is once again on the list for the fifth time. This year’s winner was determined by more than 800,000 votes cast by readers who evaluated their travel experiences.

“Greenville is no longer a ‘well-kept secret’ or ‘hidden gem,’” according to Mayor Knox White in an emailed release. “Visitors from around the world have fallen in love with our walkable Main Street, bikeable trails, and shoppable boutiques. Now, they’re telling their friends about us. Moving up to No. 5 on this prestigious list of travel spots will bring even greater awareness to our urban greenspace, downtown waterfall, and festive food scene.”

Greenville and Charleston are the only cities in South Carolina to make the list this year, joining Aspen, Colorado, and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California on the list.

The top ten lists from the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are listed below:
