Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas announced July 3 it received a $25,000 donation from CAPTRUST Community Foundation, an employee-run nonprofit.
The funds will be used to provide overnight lodging, meals and travel to treatment families as their children battle cancer in the Carolinas.
“Getting to treatment is a big part of the battle for so many of our families,” said Laura Allen, executive director of Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. “With only nine comprehensive pediatric treatment centers in the Carolinas, so many of our families have to travel for hours just to get to treatment. They either have to drive to and from day after day or find a place to stay nearby with no way to cook at home. This CAPTRUST Community Foundation’s grant is paramount to making sure we can take that burden off of families so they can focus on their child’s survival.”
In 2024, Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas expects to provide financial and emotional support to more than 2,400 children who are battling cancer and their families.
