Art & Light Gallery to host ‘Maximalist Playground’ exhibit

Maximalist Playground will open Sept. 3 at Art & Light Gallery in Greenville.

The exhibit, which features works by sculptor Olivia Bonilla and painter Liz Rundorff Smith, will be on display virtually on the gallery’s website and in person at 16 Aiken St. in Greenville through Sept. 28.

Bonilla works with cement and resin to create her works, while Rundorff Smith uses oil paint to make her pieces. For “Maximalist Playground” both artists’ works lean into a maximalist design aesthetic with a focus on bold colors, patterns and objects, reminiscent of the 1980s, said the gallery in a news release.

Art & Light Gallery will host an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6, at the gallery to celebrate the new collection.
