According to an email addressed to parents by Anderson County School District Five superintendent, Thomas Wilson, any high school student who has been fully vaccinated or is getting fully vaccinated will receive a $100 incentive.
The program aims to get more than half of eligible students vaccinated, and Wilson believes that the incentive will get at least half of the students vaccinated.
To those 16 and older, the vaccine can be administered without parental consent; however, in order to receive the incentive, students must fill out a form acknowledging that they are voluntarily providing the information to the district, have student and guardian consent, and provide a copy of the student vaccination card.
According to the School District, the $100 incentive will be issued to students in the form of a check.
The School District also stated that the deadline for the vaccinations is Oct. 15 and that forms must be submitted by Oct. 18.
