Celebrate Anderson is back for its 25th year on Labor Day weekend at the Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center’s William A. Floyd Amphitheater near Whitehall Park.
The annual outdoor concert will look a little different than in years past, with a two-day concert featuring dueling headliners, Ashley McBryde and Randy Houser.
Houser will perform Aug. 31; McBryde will perform Sept. 1.
Houser is a singer-songwriter boasting six studio albums including “Note to Self,” released in 2022, and “Anything Goes,” released in 2018. Recently, Houser added acting to his resume with a role in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
McBryde is a Grammy- and Country Music Association Award-winner who entered the scene performing in biker bars and self-releasing albums in 2006. In the years following, she began touring with such acts as Chris Stapleton and Willie Nelson before recording “Never Wanted to be That Girl” with Carly Pearce in 2021, earning McBryde her first Grammy.
“What we want to do is … to celebrate the people in Anderson County and give them a free concert that any and everybody can enjoy, and it doesn’t cost anything,” said Rusty Burns, county administrator. “It’s just a celebration of all the good things going on in Anderson, although we will have plenty of visitors from other counties and other states that will attend and we appreciate that because when they come in, they spend money with our local merchants and just add to the fun.”
The event will also feature vendors and food trucks. Across the street, the Cancer Association of Anderson will put on its Hot Air Affair — Rising Above Cancer the same weekend, offering hot air balloon rides.
While the event is still free, guests must obtain tickets this year at andersonevents.com. Tickets are available now.
