This year’s Upstate Heart Ball will take place as a digital event as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The virtual event will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event this year also widened its mission to focus on improving the health of underserved communities, said Lynn Harton, co-chair of the Ball and chairman and CEO of the United Community Bank.
“This fall, we launched the Heart of the Upstate campaign,” he said. “Through this campaign, we’re expanding the mission of the traditional Heart Ball by focusing on the COVID-19-magnified struggles of our neighbors including health inequities of our most vulnerable populations.”
The event will also feature a live auction led by Robert Hughes of Hughes Development Company and Karen Sobocinski of Truist Financial and Carl Sobocinski of Table 301 and the stories of local survivors.
Marion Crawford of Crawford and United Community Bank and community volunteer Angi Einstein will hold a silent auction.
The auction items include trips, exclusive one-of-a-kind experiences, and packages from popular local businesses across the Upstate.
Participants can donate directly to the American Heart Association through the Open Your Hear campaign.
